The Analyst D2S is a dual dryer scanning system designed to fill the unique requirements of ultrasonic inspection on cast iron paper machine dryer rolls.

The system scans and records velocity and time of flight information, insuring proper calibration at any point on the roll. The D2S also provides the flexibility and reporting capabilities of the Analyst software.

The D2S Provides the following functionality:
  • Automated calibration
  • Reduced zero error (due to wedge construction and wear.
  • Multiplexed, interleaved scanning for thickness and velocity.
  • Fast inspection rates.
  • Easily viewable A-scan display
  • Automated data acquisition
  • Graphical display.
  • Automated reporting.
  • Access to TOF data.
  • Reliable trending.
  • Flexiblity in velocity application.
  • View velocity data.
  • Reduce noise in data.
  • Pentium based notebook computer for control, data acquisition, and reporting functions.
  • Analyst Software is based on the 32 bit Windows platform.
  • The automated wedge calibration dialog is accessed via a menu selection. The dialog guides the user through each step of the calibration using the supplied calibration blocks.
  • The more complete calibration eliminates zero errors in both pairs of transducers in any comparable wedge.
  • the system allows interleaved scanning of both sets of data using a small, two-channel multiplexer. Scans can be taken at rates several times faster than present systems.
  • The system uses a Sonatest Sitescan 230 or Sonatest Masterscan 330 ultrasonic flaw detector. Available features include a tunable square-wave pulser, time-corrected gain, a high resolution color screen, echo-to-echo gating, and fast communication rates. The controls are intuitive and easy to use. Since the D2S system does not require a modified UT instrument, any scope of the above types can be used for added flexibility. The scope offers many other features that make it preferable as a flaw-detection instrument when not in use in the D2S system.
  • the small multiplexer fits into the bottom pouch of the scope case, and can be removed when not in use.
  • Due to the time-slicing method and speed of the syste, the A-Scan of the thickness data can be viewed comfortably. For use in monitoring the also-important velocity signal, the velocity A-Scan appears as a "ghost image" on the screen.
  • The automated data acquisition performed by the Analyst program qcquires large amounts of data in a short period of time, reducing data error and loss.
  • A graphical, cross-selection profile of the thickness and other data allows a greatly improved determination of the physical condition of the vessel. If required, a table view of the data is also available.
  • Automated reporting of the scan data, vessel physical representation, and all relevant information are sent to the default Windows printer with the simple click of a buttom. The data can also be printed in table form. this greatly increases the economy of the inspection.
  • Automatically converts the TOF data to thickness using the velocity data from the velocity scan.
The D2S is built upon the Analyst software and data acquisition system. This means that the features of this system are available for B-Scan inspection of anything from piping to vessels and storage tanks. Automated reporting is available for the presentation of data in several scan-plan type categories. If the C1 scanner is purchased, the system will offer the best tank wall and roof corrosion inspection system available.
